Dear Child hunger champion,

We're excited to share our first quarterly newsletter with you! There's a lot going on in the world of child hunger and, as a supporter of our work, we hope that you find these updates to be a helpful way to catch up and stay informed.

We entered this fiscal year still basking in the glow of having successfully led the charge to pass landmark School Meals for All legislation, but have quickly turned our attention to all the work that lays in front of us, including ensuring the full funding and successful implementation of this bill.

I encourage you to read on to learn more about our current efforts, and know that none of this would be possible without your support and that of so many others. Whether you donate, participate in our advocacy efforts, or just help us spread our message, you are playing a critical role in ending child hunger in Maine. Thank you!

In partnership,

Justin Strasburger, Executive Director

Earlier this month, we hosted School Meals Celebration Week. Our partners and community members came together to celebrate the value of school meals and why #SchoolMealsMatterToME. Here are some of the highlights:

Policy & Advocacy

Full Plates and our advocacy partners have had a big year! We worked together to make Maine one of the first states in the nation to provide school meals at no cost to all students and increased funding to provide more local food in schools. While we celebrate these big wins, we continue the push to secure the rest of the state funding needed for School Meals for All and work with our members of Congress to expand federally-funded free school meals. Learn more about our successes and what we're working on now!
